Co-Pay Plans a Reaction to Fear of the Unknown

June 20, 2008 – 7:46 am

Choosing co-pay plans seems to be a reaction to fear of the unknown. People think they are getting good value for their dollar. However, they don’t realize that when they leave the doctor’s office and go to the lab for further diagnostics, that the cost is not covered. It’s extra. Of course that adds up quickly. Those who choose co-pay plans have no real idea what the cost of services are when they see the doctor.

The irony is if the choice of plans has been discussed with a local health insurance agent, the person would have had a choice of plans that suited their circumstances the best, and would have gotten more value for their health care dollar. Take the time to talk to a local insurance agent. You might have more money in your pocket when you’re done.
